When I was getting started with my own freelance writing business, I found myself loaded with questions—and no one to ask.

I tried different courses and eBooks, but my issue was that nothing felt like it was exactly suited for what I was doing. There was a lot of generalized information to learn from, but what about my questions? I just wanted someone to talk to that could help me find my way and share what they’d learned, too.

That's why I’ve created this coaching program—in hopes of helping fellow freelancers make sense of what can be a very confusing world to break into. I call it coaching for the sake of quick communication, but it’s really more like a teacher/mentor relationship.

Kaleigh’s advice and guidance not only made me feel more confident in my freelance writing abilities, but also more focused on the next steps I needed to take. She really helped me narrow my scope and pointed me in the right direction. She’s the best!

The Coaching Program

The goal of this one-on-one coaching program is to help you fine-tune your freelance writing business over the course of four weeks.

Here’s how it works:

You’ll complete an intake survey that will help me better understand your unique business and your major concerns/questions so I can tailor our sessions to be exactly what you need.

Each week, we’ll meet for a 30-minute Skype or phone call.

During our call, we'll go over a different aspect of your business, I'll give you a piece of homework (these are business-oriented, not a writing assignment), and then we'll discuss it at the beginning of the next call before moving on to the next lesson.

By the end of the four weeks, you will have:

  • A clear mission statement

  • A well-defined niche that will help you better target clients

  • Contacts with fellow writers, editors, and content managers that you can leverage down the road

  • A clear picture of how you'll price your services and communicate value to clients

  • Smart processes in place that make clients love & refer you

  • 6 & 12 month goals set for your business

  • A list of communities to join that will help you feel more at home in the writing world (and can help you land jobs)

  • Completed four 30-minute video chat sessions

PLUS: Customizable templates for onboarding new clients and project proposals

Who it’s best for: Beginner-level freelance writers

Price: $250 per session ($1,000 total for four-week program)*

Limited spots: Keep in mind that these coaching sessions are limited, as I only work with one or two students at a time. This allows me to give each person the attention he or she deserves. You will be notified of the next available spot once you complete the application form.

Results: Past participants of this training program have gone on to do incredible things. One was recruited by HubSpot. Others have landed bylines on publications like The Muse, Foundr, and Entrepreneur. Others have grown sustainable writing businesses and are in the 3+ year range of FT freelancing.
